PRESS RELEASE: Woking Rotaract Club donates £330 to the Woking Mind

The Rotaract Club of Woking is a social club which also helps the local community and raises money for Charity. The club recently donated £330 to Woking Mind, an independent charity which works to create a better life for everyone with experience of mental distress.

Organisers and some clients of Woking Mind visited a Rotaract Club meeting, where Michael Andrews - a professional mental health nurse and one of the founders of Woking Mind - spoke to the Club about their work. They stressed the importance of their "Holiday Project" which organises two specialists holidays each year, giving 18 clients a break in routine and a chance to relax as well as promoting self esteem and social skills, providing the first holiday in twenty years to one particular client.

A client of Woking Mind was keen to explain how Woking Mind's independence enabled them to take her on events and and give her experiences which Social Services were unable to provide. She described how she and friends she'd met through Mind had enjoyed the holidays and benefited from the opportunities Mind gave them.

Rotaract is a club open to anyone between the ages of 18-30 who want to make new friends, participate in a variety of activities and sports events, and try to raise money for charity along the way. They meet every 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at the Wheatsheaf Pub in Horsell, as well as many and varied events each week.
