PRESS RELEASE: Woking Rotaract Club donates £200 towards a couples' Inca Trail expedition.

Woking Rotaract Club, a social club for people aged 18 to 30, have donated £200 towards a couple from Woking's target of £5,000 for their sponsored Inca Trail in aid of Oxfam.

In June this year, Louise & Darryl Willis, who are former members of Woking Rotaract, are planning to trek the Inca Trail from Cuzco to Machu Picchu in Peru in order to raise funds for Oxfam. At its highest point the trail is 4,200 metres above sea level, and they will be trekking for 5 days - stopping at camp sites overnight. At the end of the trip they will have the opportunity to visit an Oxfam project in Lima.

They both love walking and being outdoors and were looking for something to challenge them, whilst at the same time raising some money for charity. They are trekking for Oxfam, because the charity works worldwide to find lasting solutions to overcome poverty and suffering by working with local communities helping them to help themselves gain a better quality of life that the vast majority of us in the UK take very much for granted.

They are both in training, trying to get their cardiovascular fitness levels up, and are trying to fit in plenty of long distance hill walks with their back packs too, so that they know they have the stamina to keep walking for up to 11 hours a day!

The couple still have £1,000 to raise before they go, so if anyone is interested in making a donation, they can do so via their fund raising web site at www.bmycharity.com/darrylwillis or alternatively call Darryl or Louise on 01483 851850. For further information on Oxfam and the event, people can visit www.oxfam.org.uk/adventure.
